Is Crystal supported by one or more large organizations?

Crystal is made/supported by Manas (and supported by other companies/individuals).

Does Crystal have an official community manager?

I'm not entirely sure but Ary Borenszweig (asterite), one of the creators of Crystal, seems to comment on most of the PRs for the Crystal repo. They've also made some contributions to the Crystal exercises repo for Exercism.

Do you know of specific communities (online or offline) that are enthusiastic about Crystal? (Chat communities, forums, meetups, student clubs, etc)

Crystal has a google group and gitter chat listed on their community page: https://crystal-lang.org/community/. There's also a subreddit for sharing work done in Crystal.

Are there popular conferences for Crystal? (If so, what are some examples?)

Not yet but hopefully as it becomes more mature!

Are there any organizations who are targeted specifically at getting certain subgroups or demographics interested in Crystal? (e.g. kids, teenagers, career changers, people belonging to various groups that are typically underrepresented in tech?)

Not that I know of/can find online.

Are there specific groups or programs dedicated to mentoring people in Crystal?

The gitter channel and google group would be great places to start. There's also a tag for Crystal on stackoverflow.

Are there popular newsletters for Crystal?

There's the Crystal Blog (https://crystal-lang.org/blog) and Crystal Weekly ()

Is Crystal taught at programming bootcamps? (If so, what are some examples?)

I don't think so.

Is Crystal taught at universities? (If so, what are some examples?)

I doubt it. It's very new.

from crystal.
