This is a common gotcha with quoted strings that require double quoting because the shell consumes a pair of quotes (see https://hydra.cc/docs/advanced/override_grammar/basic/#working-with-your-shell)
The correct syntax is
python main.py input_name='"pink & green"'
from hydra.
input_name='""pink & green""'
This actually crashes for me, it's probably because we're using different shells. But if it works for you then great. Essentially you want something so that when calling echo
on it, it shows input_name="pink & green"
.
For me it's
> echo input_name='"pink & green"'
input_name="pink & green"
but it may be different for you.
