Maybe this is an issue with require/autoload not being faked? You could try my fakefs-require gem.

lgierth: Does it make sense to integrate the fakefs-require gem directly into the fakefs project?

Sure, why not? I wanted to do some polishing in the next time, the code ist more than a year old after all :)

Shall I prepare a merge commit then?

For my purposes, I no longer even work for the company whose codebase had this issue, so I'm happy to take your word for it that this is the likely issue and solution (and reading over the ticket, it probably is).

lgierth: I think I'd have to review the gem more closely, but I think the basic idea seems right: provide a fallback for load, require, and autoload if the file isn't present in fake filesystem.

I've run into this issue a number of times - so I'm looking for a good solution, too.

Closing this one out, for now. We'll have to move to something like fakefs-require eventually.
