alogrec's Introduction

aLogrec continuously records logcat logs to external storage.

The purpose of this utility is to provide a (near) infinite record of Android's logcat. Android's /dev/log device is only a ~50k window. This log can be scrolled in a matter of minutes on an active device. aLogrec provides a way to capture logcat over long periods: hours, or even days.

Log records are written to external storage (typically /sdcard) under the folder alogrec, and with a file name that includes the timestamp which the log record started.

WARNING: running this application prevents the device from sleeping. During this time, it performs clostly file I/O operations. This application will cause your device to consume significantly more battery than it would otherwise. It should be used under controlled conditions, and only for development purposes.

alogrec's Issues

0 Byte log files

Hello,

When running alogrec on my rooted stock Galaxy Note II the application shows up in the status bar and reports that it is writing logs to /sdcard/alogrec/ but produces 0 byte files. There don't appear to be any configuration options through the application to change the save location either.
