The underlying type is generic but the interface is not which is why it is missing.

I propose adding the following to the ICommandLineOption interface which will allow you to get the object.

/// <summary>
/// Gets the default value set for this options
/// </summary>
/// <returns>The default value set or <c>null</c> if no value has been set</returns>
object GetDefaultValue();
