I can see that it looks wrong in the browser too, from that link.

But, it looks normal in TextEdit on OS X.

It looks like an encoding issue with the text file. If I open it in other editors like sublime text or vim, I also get garbled characters. I had no success so far to convert the encoding from TextEdit (I guess this is what you used to create the file?), but I'll keep you posted!

so, I wasn't able to convert the file, but you can make a new file in TextEdit and copy paste the text from your file. Then go to Format -> Make plain text and when you save make sure that the encoding is set to utf-8

I saved the document as UTF-8, and when my script writes/updates the file it seems to stay in UTF-8 format now.

I have an AppleScript that does the writing. I added 'as class', hoping that it writes in the correct format :

write output to fileReference as «class utf8»
