We have the ticket system for the actual data, but it might be helpful to have a large metadata file (csv?) that has information not include in the tickets, e.g. aliases, discovery date, whether the nova is recurrent, etc.

This issue will increase in relevance once we get the ONC working, but the purpose of this thread is to brainstorm ideas for custom keys in the NOVA subclass of the ENTRY class. In an email, Tom suggested the following subclass:

• EJECTA_MASS = Ejecta mass, if known
  -DISTANCE = Distance to the nova, if known
  -WILLIAMS_CLASSIFICATION = Williams classification (Fe II or He/N)
  -STROPE_CLASSIFICATION = Strope classification, if available
  -T_2_VBAND = t_2 in V filter
  -T_3_VBAND = t_3 in V filter
  -COMPANION_SPECTRAL_TYPE: spectral type of the companion, if known
  -RECURRENT_NOVA = Boolean that says whether this is a known recurrent nova
  -SYMBIOTIC_NOVA = Boolean that says whether this is a known symbiotic nova
  -DETECTED_SSS = Boolean that says whether this was ever detected as a SSS

I would also like to append:

-DATE_OUTBURST: assumed date of outburst

This issue can serve as a initial place for brainstorming and documenting progress on these fields.
