As far as I can tell, there is currently no way to register for this call in the Unity SDK (other than with the workaround you suggested). We'll look into what it would take to add support for this in a future release.

Thanks for answering so quickly.
On iOS, we have the luxury of patching the code during postprocessbuild, but on Android, it's all prepackaged in the jar we get from you guys. Is there a source code repository we could use to fix and build our own .jar somewhere?

It seems the underlying function has since been removed from the Android and iOS SDKs. Also, the Unity SDK is now open source (located where this bug is now located). I'm going to close this issue.
