It seems like we had a typo. It should be:

     addDoc(collection(citiesRef, 'SF', 'landmarks'), { 
         name: 'Golden Gate Bridge', 
         type: 'bridge' 
     }),

Instead of:

     setDoc(doc(citiesRef, 'SF', 'landmarks'), { 
         name: 'Golden Gate Bridge', 
         type: 'bridge' 
     }),

This has been fixed in #280 and the docs have been updated. :)
