It doesn't look like tmux is installed. Try running 'which tmux' to confirm it is installed.

I did some more testing, if i run the ./tf2server console from the actual console, it doesn't work. If i SSH into the machine then run ./tf2server console, it works as designed.

This is interesting. I am not sure why as I am quite new to tmux. However if you find a fix please let me know. I will take a look when I get some spare time. Thanks for identifying this

I have tested this in a virtualbox VM and I got tmux to work without issues. Maybe this is an issue with VMware. However this is a mystery to me. Have you found any resolution to this?

I just stumbled onto this problem.
The solution is quite simple. I was pressing CTRL+b d without releasing the CTRL (like if using screen).
You should hold down CTRL and press b, release the CTRL and then press d.
