I must have this one a bit wrong because
Together, these data suggest that Cmp7 contributes to a mitotic diffusion barrier function independent of NPCs that is distinct from its role in NE membrane sealing.
Will remove synonym, but I can't figure out how the sealing is different from the proteinaceous diffusion barrier.!

I get it. The sealing is closure of the gap.
The 'diffusion barrier' is what prevents leakage of nuclear components when a large gap is present.
I'm not sure how to capture that.
The authors suggestion here was
"regulation of nucleocytoplasmic compartmentalization"
perhaps "establishment or maintenance of nuclear diffusion barrier"
Any cellular process that results in the specification, formation or maintenance of a proteinaceous nuclear diffusion barrier at a fenestration in the nuclear membrane to preserve the integrity of the nucleus.
For this one the annotations would be
pcp1, cmp7, ppc89 (all conserved across eukaryotes)

The activity I was trying to describe is analogous to
GO:1990606 membrane scission GTPase motor activity
but in this situation the polymer seals a hole instead of splitting two compartments vesicles.

However it isn't clear where the energy comes from (there is no intrinsic GTPase for ESCRT III, and it seems likely to be via Vsp4), so this is sounding more like a process than an activity.

INSTEAD
mitotic nuclear membrane reassembly (GO:0007084)

Definition Parents
The mitotic cell cycle process involving ESCRTIII that results in reformation of the nuclear envelope after mitotic nuclear division. In organisms undergoing closed mitosis this involves resealing or 'repair' of the nuclear envelope in the nuclear bridge.

Make this definition broader, it should cover resealing in different contexts
i) in pombe mitotic bridge
ii) after SPB extrusion
iii) after damaged nuclear pores are removed.

add synonym
nuclear envelope sealing

Also check the parent
nuclear membrane reassembly (GO:0031468)

which specifies "in the context of a normal process" (does this include repair? I'm not sure)

from go-ontology.

Decided to leave this until the mechanism is clearer.
