How about exports a function for configuration like

require('axios-debug-log')({
  // Will call debug(config.headers['content-type']) before request
  request: config => config.headers['content-type'],
  // Will call debug(response.headers['content-type']) after response
  response: response => response.headers['content-type']
})

Or inject debug function directly?

require('axios-debug-log')({
  // Will call debug(config.headers['content-type']) before request
  request: (config, debug) => debug(config.headers['content-type']),
  // Will call debug(response.headers['content-type']) after response
  response: (response, debug) => debug(response.headers['content-type'])
})
