Filtering of categories and items about k2

Hi. Can you please be more specific? You mean when you searching in the administration? If yes, K2 search is built on MySQL full text features. MySQL full text by default indexes word of minimum 4 characters.

Okay...
There's a pulldown in the admin pages that states " - Select Category - ", this is where it happens.
(also with "Items")
Filtering starts showing results even when 1 character is entered.
What's also strange is that a category named 1999-2004 doesn't appear when entering 2, 20, 200 or 2004 but does when entering 1, 19, 199, 1999. So the first number only is used?

I created both an item and a category named "1999-2004" and the search works as it should. Which version of K2 are you using? Also check the setting named "Administration item search" . If you want to search only titles then set it to "Simple (Title only)".

I'm using K2 2.6.7
Changing the search settings had no effect.
Here you can see what happens:

You see the result 2005-2010 in [3]?
When I enter 2010 in the filterbox, these don't show up also, only the number before the "-" seems to work.

What you are seeing the there is not search. It is a filtering option for the drop-down list of the category. Joomla! makes all select lists by default like this by using this jQuery plugin http://harvesthq.github.io/chosen/. We have no control over the way this filters the drop-downs.
