It might be time for us to start looking at what the OCI (Open Container Initiative) has to offer here. Specifically, they've laid out how mounts should be specified in their JSON format here.
More broadly, any container description we work with should probably keep the OCI in mind - I had read something in the past which mentioned Docker (or OCI) striving for compliance with the other.

+1 for using well documented pre-existing specs that google, docker, redhat and others seem to be putting together.

@manthey Is this still an open issue?
I'm concerned about providing configuration that would apply to all docker containers run through girder_worker. The modern docker_run task supports arbitrary volumes on a per-task invocation. Will that sufficiently resolve this issue?

It probably can be closed, but I need to try to do an end-to-end test of the specific scenario that I have (which I probably won't get to for a few weeks).

Happy to leave it open, just trying to clean up where things have gone stale.
