@ekanna You would need to write some gzip middleware—see the docs for how to plug in middleware: https://github.com/codegangsta/martini#middleware-handlers

This StackOverflow answer might get you started on the middleware itself, however my advice would be to use nginx as a front-end proxy and let it handle gzipping, SSL and all the extra parts that it's really good at.
