(by analogy with http://<host>/music/trackID/cover.png to fetch track artwork).

I've got the beginnings of a working implementation of this.  Would you be 
interested in trying it before it's officially released?

This would entail me sending you a new .apk file for Squeezer, and you'd have 
to install it on your device without using Google Play.

Squeezer 0.9, just released to the market, supports downloading tracks.  
Long-press on a track name to open the context menu, and choose the "Download" 
option.  Thanks for sending in the feature request.
