The alternative ReCaptcha\RequestMethod\SocketPost method should work for you here. You can use this by replacing this line:

$recaptcha = new \ReCaptcha\ReCaptcha($secret);

with this line:

$recaptcha = new \ReCaptcha\ReCaptcha($secret, new \ReCaptcha\RequestMethod\SocketPost());
