From the experience of Chinese Noto fonts, two conditions had to be met:
- Include the "languages" in the metadata (google/fonts/#4722)
- Add a particular region to some language
.textprotofiles (googlefonts/lang/#13)
Bringing this here so perhaps Nathan could confirm if 1 is possible in this case (as Rosa is asking) and if 2 is also required for languages included in 1.

This remains a problem and seems to be getting no attention. This looks bad for both Google and SIL.

Both families have been fixed in sandbox over the last couple of weeks. It looks like the changes just need to be pushed to production.
@m4rc1e can we add the following changes to the to_prod file?
