Yes, this applies exclusively to Enterprise. If you are having issues I suggest updating to the latest patch of your respective release (v15, v14 or v13).

The DMI data structure is a STRING, which is limited in its specification to 65535 bytes. In practice, I doubt manufacturers use that entire length!

I think we just picked a fairly arbitrary limit here - should be safe for us to raise this.

Yeah this is safe to increase. Asset tags I had observed in practice are fairly small (10 to 20-ish chars) and an UUID is 36, so I figured 40 was way above the mark. 🤷♂️
