I think it's an interesting idea but I definitely don't have time to attempt it.
I'm also not sure how many people would use it, relative to the cost to do it, which seems significant. IIUC the WXME file wouldn't be edited directly in the Emacs buffer, it would need to be converted on visit (load) and als on save. The codec is in Racket not Elisp. I suppose nothing is impossible in Emacs, but first-glance it seems like a lot of work.
If someone wanted to attempt this, I wonder if it would make sense to make a distinct wxme-mode. If it needs to be a major mode (?) it could be derived from racket-mode. Or maybe it can do what it needs to as a minor mode (?).
