Presumably this is because of the protocolRegex: /(?:[A-Za-z]{3,9}:(?:\/\/)?)/ (/src/matcherRegexSource.js:26) which, as its comment says, is designed to catch mailto:-style URIs. I'm not sure how this could be fixed without coding in a list of known URI schemes (which would inevitably be incomplete).

Hey, this should be fixed now. I basically went with the heuristic that the domain name must have at least one dot character in it in order to be considered a protocol and domain URL. Give it a try and let me know.
