Where else would you want to write to?

I'd love to redirect it to a file, and get my CI server to pick up said file as a build log asset. I grant the easiest thing is to tell my build server to treat stdout and stderr as that log, but I've gotten some push-back when I suggest it.

I also foresee the day when I'm asked to format it as xml, and passing in a reporter (similar to jshint) could be helpful.

What's the best logging engine currently? bunyan or winston?

I'd like to specify .log() to go to console.err() instead console.log(). I like handing off to an external package -- good idea.

+1 on this, I'd find it useful to pipe errors to a file and without getting logs such as "Running 'default'"

As a holdover until we implement the full logging system you can always override process.stdout/stderr.write
