Actually, it looks like the AppVeyor tests have been failing for much longer but there was just a brief period where they weren't running at all that made things look green in the history.
So whatever's going on here seems to be a pretty old bug, but one that's presumably been around long enough that it's not causing any real-world hurt. 🤷♂️

Looks like this particular test failed for the first time in 041874c. https://ci.appveyor.com/project/hashicorp/go-getter/build/build-b-tar-ordering-113
However, there have been other failures before that which, on closer inspection, persist to now. Seems like this particular test run was only very briefly working after it was introduced, so the problems here are long-standing rather than being recent regressions.
