Hello @andrewthad, I don't know about Parsec, but we can, and probably will add the instance. If you're interested, open an issue.

Please note that if you don't want to use Megaparsec, you can introduce newtype
wrapper which is instance of Exception
and Typeable
. You can then covert to this type when you need to throw
ParseError
and back after catching. This is the common workaround in these cases.
The situation with Parsec maintenance is not fully clear, there is no activity from owner of the repository for 6 last months. We don't know why. All issues and pull requests that are seemingly ignored.

It looks like most types have Typeable
instances since 3.1.10. See the CHANGES
file.
I would suggest that derived Data
instances be added where possible.
