Update 👍 build works after switch to gdal version 2.1!
Once I checked on the latest version of GDAL, I uninstalled gdal version 1.11.5 together with all it's dependencies using Homebrew!
Then I installed GDAL version 2.1 instead using: brew cask install gdal-framework.
Afterwards I removed the build directory and rebuilt everything from scratch ... and voila it works!!!
Please update line 57 of mapd-deps-osx.sh to use brew cask install gdal-framework for gdal.
