I tried ghosttile-ing Zoom so I could stop seeing the little red dot indicating new messages, because they don't let users turn that off, so I thought, maybe I can just hide the icon. Anyhow, it didn't work...once I had ghosttile do it's thing to Zoom, Zoom woudn't launch. Asking an AI about what might going it, it guesses: > GhostTile works by patching the target app's binary to inject `ghosthide.dylib`, then **ad-hoc re-signing** it. During this process, it **strips TCC entitlements** (camera, microphone, contacts, etc.) from the target app because Apple's AMFI (Apple Mobile File Integrity) will kill any ad-hoc re-signed process that retains those entitlements. > > Looking at `AppCompatibility.swift:62-63`, the stripped TCC entitlements include: > - `com.apple.security.device.audio-input` — microphone access > - `com.apple.security.device.camera` — camera access > > Zoom requests both of these. When GhostTile strips them during preparation, Zoom loses mic/camera capability even though the app otherwise runs fine hidden from the Dock. This is a known architectural limitation documented in the README caveats: *"Some hardened apps need extra preparation before they can launch with the helper dylib."*
