Interesting. When I get a minute I'll look at the gem's dependencies and see if there is any additional monkeypatching going on that could be introducing the problem.

Is this issue still occurring or am I able to close it?

If someone is able to try and replicate the issue against the current version in git then I can take a look at it, otherwise I will close it.

I'm gonna go ahead and close it. It was solved with this commit:
