At the moment, there are a couple of ways to do this. However, I should probably add a setLegendOptions method that triggers a legendChanged event, which will automatically update the Legend control. I'm open to suggestions on the best/most intuitive approach to implementing this, so let me know if you have thoughts.

Here are some approaches that should work at the moment:

// Reference to L.Control.Legend and L.DataLayer instances declared previously
dataLayer.options.legendOptions.numSegments = <new number>;
legendControl.redrawLayer(dataLayer);

// OR

dataLayer.options.legendOptions.numSegments = <new number>;
dataLayer.fire('legendChanged');

Thanks. I think it will make it. No need for setting up a new method.
