@Keleir I'm having trouble reproducing the issue. I was not able to make the container image you used but I used another and so far after 2 hours no problems.
BTW, I create a Docker image for this exporter as well.
docker run --name oracle -d -p 8080:8080 -p 1521:1521 sath89/oracle-12c
docker run -d --link=oracle -p 9161:9161 -e DATA_SOURCE_NAME=system/oracle@oracle/xe.oracle.docker iamseth/oracledb_exporter:0.0.1from oracledb_exporter.
