Oh god, my assumption was wrong, the issue with unstable reading persists until untagged-747ef4821305f24baaf3, which is the second commit after the stock firmware... With that much changes I have no chance to find the cause and I also don't want to waste your time. I'll ask the seller for his firmware then and temporarily use stock :)

For others having the same "issue": turned out it wasn't chameleon's fault, but rather of my phone. The later version of firmware I used, the more unstable was the connection between them, but other readers like PN532 (compared to stock firmware) started working better and faster. You may also compile latest firmware yourself (from the last commit) and disable unneeded features. I did that, removed Ultralight and NTAG support and not only MCT recognition started working much better, but also GUI configuration loading on device connect got blazing fast!
