pudb freezes, sometimes, when pressing cursor keys about pudb

I'm not too knowledgeable about terminal behavior, but I think there's a zoo of different modes, e.g. with respect to how cursor keys are sent. It's conceivable that pudb (urwid, really--the library that helps pudb draw buttons and stuff) becomes unresponsive if some of your code messes with the terminal.

My first bit of advice would be to look for a reliable recipe that reproduces the situation. Once you have that, use the console (key "!") to investigate. For instance, you could check sys.modules for any modules that got loaded. Hope that helps.
