### RAGFlow workspace code commit ID
14bb02ee (tag `v1.0.0-rc1`). The code paths cited below are unchanged on `main` at 519e7d98 (2026-10-01).
### RAGFlow image version
infiniflow/ragflow:v1.0.0-rc1
### Other environment information
- Hardware parameters: x86_64, AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS (8C/16T), 23 GiB RAM, CPU only
- OS type: Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS, Docker with docker-compose v2.26.1, CPU profile
- Others: `DOC_ENGINE=infinity` with `infiniflow/infinity:v0.7.3-x64-v3`
### Actual behavior
With `DOC_ENGINE=infinity`, deleting a user through the admin API fails whenever one of the Infinity tables it tries to drop was never created:
- A user who never wrote any document metadata (that is, most users):
`{"code": 500, "message": "remove tenant metadata: table 'ragflow_doc_meta_<tenant_id>' does not exist"}`
- A user who owns a dataset that never received chunks (for example, an empty dataset):
`{"code": 500, "message": "remove tenant chunks: table 'ragflow_<tenant_id>_<dataset_id>' does not exist"}`
The user is not deleted; it is only left deactivated. The same deletions succeed with `DOC_ENGINE=elasticsearch`.
### Expected behavior
The user is deleted. Infinity tables that do not exist are skipped, just as missing indices are skipped on Elasticsearch.
### Steps to reproduce
1. Set `DOC_ENGINE=infinity` and start the stack.
2. Register a user `[email protected]`. For case A, do nothing else. For case B, also create one empty dataset as that user.
3. As the superuser, deactivate and delete the user:
```bash
curl -s -X PUT http://<host>:9381/api/v1/admin/users/[email protected]/activate \
-H "Authorization: <admin token>" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"activate_status":"off"}'
curl -s -X DELETE http://<host>:9381/api/v1/admin/users/[email protected] -H "Authorization: <admin token>"
```
4. Case A returns the `remove tenant metadata` error. Case B returns the `remove tenant chunks` error.
### Additional information
- [user_delete.go#L314-L330](https://github.com/infiniflow/ragflow/blob/14bb02ee4584c1ab18f0c722c48beecd6bbf9860/internal/admin/user_delete.go#L314-L330) unconditionally drops one Infinity table per owned dataset ([dropUserChunkStore](https://github.com/infiniflow/ragflow/blob/14bb02ee4584c1ab18f0c722c48beecd6bbf9860/internal/admin/user_delete.go#L387-L397)), then the memory tables, then the doc-meta table.
- Infinity's [dropTable](https://github.com/infiniflow/ragflow/blob/14bb02ee4584c1ab18f0c722c48beecd6bbf9860/internal/engine/infinity/common.go#L34-L60) returns `table '%s' does not exist` when the table is missing ([#L51](https://github.com/infiniflow/ragflow/blob/14bb02ee4584c1ab18f0c722c48beecd6bbf9860/internal/engine/infinity/common.go#L51)). Elasticsearch's [dropIndex](https://github.com/infiniflow/ragflow/blob/14bb02ee4584c1ab18f0c722c48beecd6bbf9860/internal/engine/elasticsearch/common.go#L28-L42), by contrast, tolerates a missing index ("mirrors Python's docStoreConn which silently returns False on a non-existent index").
- By reading the code, memories that never received a message should hit the same error through `dropUserChunkStore(…, MemoryIndexName(…), …)`. I did not test this.
- Suggested fix: make Infinity's `dropTable` tolerate a missing table (for example, by dropping with the ignore conflict type), or check `ChunkStoreExists` / `MetadataStoreExists` before each drop in `user_delete.go`.
- Workaround: create placeholder tables with the expected names, then delete the user again. The placeholders are dropped by the deletion.
```bash
curl -s -X POST http://<host>:23820/databases/default_db/tables/ragflow_doc_meta_<tenant_id> \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"create_option":"ignore_if_exists","fields":[{"name":"id","type":"varchar"}]}'
# Do the same for ragflow_<tenant_id>_<dataset_id> of every dataset that has no table yet.
```

Hi @timebankspace! I'm [Dosu](https://go.dosu.dev/dosubot) and I'm helping the InfiniFlow team.
Your analysis holds on `main` (519e7d98). In `user_delete.go`, `dropUserChunkStore`, `DropMetadataStore` and `DropChunkStore` run without an existence check [[1]](https://github.com/infiniflow/ragflow/blob/519e7d98a5651564d4e35d6648f006cba4baaf4f/internal/admin/user_delete.go#L322-L330). The dataset/document chunk and metadata deletes just below in the same file do check `ChunkStoreExists`/`MetadataStoreExists` first [[2]](https://github.com/infiniflow/ragflow/blob/519e7d98a5651564d4e35d6648f006cba4baaf4f/internal/admin/user_delete.go#L332-L383). The helpers needed for a fix already exist and are used elsewhere in the same function, but not at these three call sites.
`DropMetadataStore` and `DropChunkStore` both pass through to the shared `dropTable`. When the table is missing, `dropTable` returns an error instead of doing nothing [[3]](https://github.com/infiniflow/ragflow/blob/519e7d98a5651564d4e35d6648f006cba4baaf4f/internal/engine/infinity/common.go#L33-L61) [[4]](https://github.com/infiniflow/ragflow/blob/519e7d98a5651564d4e35d6648f006cba4baaf4f/internal/engine/infinity/common.go#L548-L551). `MetadataStoreExists`/`ChunkStoreExists` wrap the same existence check that `dropTable` uses internally [[5]](https://github.com/infiniflow/ragflow/blob/519e7d98a5651564d4e35d6648f006cba4baaf4f/internal/engine/infinity/common.go#L63-L93). A minimal fix would add an exists-check before each of the three unguarded drops, following the pattern a few lines later in the same file. This would leave `dropTable`'s behavior unchanged for other callers that may rely on it returning an error.
I didn't find a PR or issue that covers this path in `user_delete.go`. That includes the memory table case: memories that never received a message look like they would hit the same error through `dropUserChunkStore`.

Infinity's `dropTable` in `internal/engine/infinity/common.go` returns `table '%s' does not exist` when the table was never created. Elasticsearch's `dropIndex` returns nil for a missing index, and OceanBase's `DropChunkStore` and `DropMetadataStore` use `DROP TABLE IF EXISTS`, so Infinity is the only engine where admin deletion fails on an empty dataset or a tenant with no doc-meta table.
I'll make `dropTable` return nil for a missing table instead of adding existence checks in `user_delete.go`. That also covers the memory tables, and #20502 once dataset deletion starts dropping the table. I'll add a `//go:build integration` test next to the OceanBase one that drops a never-created chunk table and metadata table against a live Infinity.
