You need to save necessary information (e.g., partition number) when you persist the index. Thus, you can have them when you load them back. You should not count on the current spark configuration or a default one. DO save these metadata, and load them back when you need them.

As to the problem you have shown in this issue. This might be because the version you persist the index and the version you load the index is not consistent. A better solution is to assign serialVersionUID statically in the code.
