Thanks for bringing this up @hsanjuan. Does JS-IPFS have a downgrade procedure also?
from ipfs-docs.
Quick note: the most immediate place to put this might be alongside the instructions for upgrading IPFS, which currently live in the command line quick-start guide:
https://docs-beta.ipfs.io/how-to/command-line-quick-start/#install-ipfs
That guide is starting to get a little lengthy and multi-faceted, so a rework is probably in order anyway, but that's the most obvious location for addressing this in the near term.

No idea. @achingbrain?

A better place for it might be under Customize your install. I can't imagine downgrading is going to be a common thing users are going to do, so having it in the quickstart might not work. I see the point of a quickstart to be as short and to-the-point as possible, spoon-feeding the user precisely what they need to know so they can start playing around with stuff.
Edit: included mock-up.

Or in some sort of (not yet extant) general troubleshooting guidance? Assuming the only time someone’s going to downgrade is because not-fun things are happening.
The mockup works too, but I’d add “your” after “IPFS” if there’s space, for consistency with other left-nav titles.

general troubleshooting guidance
That's a better idea. It'll help to keep the sidebar clearer too.
We'd have to plan out what would go into the Troubleshooting. Off the top of my head, I can think of stuff like installation issues, downgrading, network connectivity, necessary admin/user privileges, how to report a problem. There's likely a bunch more.

Check the forums. That’ll give you the top 10, easily.

I've created an issue to address building a troubleshooting section: ipfs/docs#437. This issue can now remain a place for discussion around the downgrade procedure for go-ipfs.

This should be helpful for anyone looking to tackle this issue: https://github.com/ipfs/ipfs-update#revert

Oh this is already documented here, wicked.
