I'm guessing the issue (bug/feature? you decide!) is that Remix hot reloads modules whenever there's a change.

Try stashing it on the global object like this:

// in your config.ts file
import { LRUCache } from "lru-cache";

const kFeatureCache = Symbol.for("feature cache");
const g = globalThis as (typeof globalThis & { [kFeatureCache]?: LRUCache });
g[kFeatureCache] ??= new LRUCache({ max: 100 });
export const featureCache = g[kFeatureCache];

from node-lru-cache.

Note: this means you'll have to actually restart your server to see the cache get reset, so for example, if you're caching things that should be hot-reloaded, then they won't be.
