SPI1 on Raspberry Pi seems to be broken and continuously refuses to drive dotstar pixels. The Adafruit Dotstar library seems to cause the issue with SPI1. Driving the Dotstars directly using python package spidev wirks well.

SPI1 is not broken - the Adafruit DotStar library simply does not support it. IUNO-TDM/MixerControl#122 fixes this.
