Issue is not reproducible to me. For refreshing the library I created a button reconnect to calibre library in the admin section

What operating system are you using?
I checked it on Windows 7x64 with calibre 2.61. It's working as supposed (after reloading the webpage)

I just tried it again. I edited a metadata in calibre (changed language) refreshed the webpage but the book didn't change. started/stopped calibre-web and the changes appeared.

bump. ;)

I tried some more things (I had a seprate calibre-server instance running and stopped it now) but calibre-web on debian definitely doesn't read updates of the metadata.db

cannot reproduce this on debian 8.5 with Python 2.7.9.
which browser are you using? could this be some caching issue??

it's chrome and I don't think it's a caching problem.

To be sure, what do you do to see newly added books? Just F5?
