I just fired up a fresh EC2 instance to check this out and it seems to be working fine for me.

Note that I did have to require RubyGems, since I installed ffi-ncurses as a gem. That made it possible for HighLine to load it. Perhaps that's what you missed.

Java::JavaLang::ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: An error occured while installing highline (1.6.9), and Bundler cannot continue.
Make sure that gem install highline -v '1.6.9'
succeeds before bundling.
I am getting this error even though I tried using jruby 1.6.5
from highline.
I'm not really sure what to try there. That's a Java error. I assume it happened as part of the install process. Given that, this is probably a better question for the JRuby team than it is for me. Sorry I can't be of more help.
