False positives detected by many AV/Malware software, of which Microsoft about youtube-dl-gui

Unfortunately there is no 100% way to fix this when converting python code to .exe other then paying a large amount of money to get it signed by Microsoft.

I will submit the code/program to windows defender here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/filesubmission and we can hope they add it to the exclusion list in the near future.

I submitted the program, it will be under review. If they chose to ignore this then this won't be an issue any further. In the mean time you can add it as an exclusion to your defender an you will be fine for now.

Wow that was quick. Once you update your defender/manually update it it should no longer detect this program.

Ok great. There are still 5 engines detected on the exe file, but not microsoft indeed. Nice one.

This is something that is going to be extremely hard to prevent. I could send it in to Microsoft every update but that will be tedious.

Alternatively if this bothers you a lot, you can run it as just a script. If you download the github content change the .py to .pyw and make sure you put it in the same folder you download my releases.

As long as you have all the needed modules and stuff in the right places You can still run it.

I'll look more into this when I have time, but as of right now python exes are going to be hard to prevent this.
