That looks like a good option, but appears to be dead. Since we only need author information, that might be okay.

(Actually, we likely need editor information too...)


A more sophisticated option would be to plug into bibutils [1,2,3], which can handle a large variety of formats.

There is a bibutils python wrapper here.

This would allow us to convert from whatever format to bibTeX(ML) to be parsed by collabMe (via pybtex).

Interestingly, Bibutils uses the Library of Congress's Metadata Object Description Schema (MODS) as the intermediate file format, which also has a python parser.

So, alternatively, we could parse MODS directly as well.
