Yes, you can use .history({ verbose: true })
to retrieve the fen both before/after a given move.
chess.loadPgn(pgn)
const moves = chess.history({ verbose: true })
const ply = 5 // these are half moves (0 = white's 1st move,
// 1 = black 1st move,
// 2 = white's 2nd move, etc ...)
console.log(moves[ply]) // <- look for the `before` and `after` properties in the object
