Not ridiculous at all.

res.send() in express can only be used for non-streaming responses. If you want to send progressively you have to use res.write() and res.end(). To put the content through the views first you have to use res.render().

Something like this should work:

require('express')()
   .get('/foo', function(req, res){
      function writeHtml(err, html){
         res.write(html);
      }

      res.render('pageheader', writeHtml);

      oboe( my_stream )
         .node('items.*', function( item ){
             res.render('item', item, writeHtml);
         })
         .done( function() {
             res.render('pagefooter', writeHtml);
         })
   })

Somebody know knows express better than I might be able to suggest a neater way.

Caveats: I haven't used express for a while and I am drinking beer.

I just noticed I don't call res.end() but I'm sure you get the gist.
