Yes, more documentation would be good because there are very many things to configure. For your problem the BETA_REDIRECT_URL = '/beta/' by default so you would need to create your own template there.

As far as general goals, development on this particular project has pretty much stalled because this is a pre user registration app. The main design was for hunger to protect/prevent user registrations, but that is pretty limited and has some trouble integrating with social auth apps. Barring bugfixes and contributions it will be pretty much what it is. For a pre registration flow it is really easy to make a DIY middleware or perhaps using launchrock, so this app was never really super useful.

I am working on a post user registration version of hunger which is significantly different - it was designed to better integrate with django_social_auth from the get-go and is located here: https://github.com/yesimon/django-hunger/tree/invites, I'm not sure if that is going to be hunger 2.0 or maybe a separate app but we'll see.

But yes as yesimon writes - there is not much new work on this project. Was initially designed to run a closed-beta phase at the startup I work at. But now since we have come out of it - there isn't really much time to work on it.
