I found that by using Method 1 to get the code, and then putting the URL in to my browser rather than using curl from the command line, I was able to obtain the oauth.json file.
Don't try to save this, as it will make the request again, just copy the content on the page (or just the token itself) and insert it in to the config file as directed.
