I'm sorry this is taking so long. I was very lucky to learn about Cyrillic from a workshop with Maria Doreuli & Krista Radoeva since I last commented on this issue. I haven't forgotten. I can't give a timeline yet, but I expect I can work on this once I fix some other issues.

I unfortunately do not have a date but have spent more than two years now learning Cyrillic on a different project I am busy with. It's something I care about and with all the showing of support for it in this thread, I hope I can make it happen, even if it means hiring out the work. Generally, though, Barlow is not a priority for me right now so it's hard to say when it will happen.

Hi @Nakouthin - thanks, I'm so glad you like it! And thanks for opening the issue -- Cyrillic is something I would love to see in Barlow. I am not sure when it will happen (and it could be quite a while), but as of now it is fair to say that yes, it is planned.

Wonderful font! I would really like to have Cyrillic in Barlow, but it’s very difficult to make quality Cyrillic. There are very few fonts with quality Cyrillic, but I hope that Cyrillic will still appear in Barlow.

Hi @james-bay -- thank you for the comment. Cyrillic is the next language I would expect to see in Barlow, and personally consider its absence to be one of Barlow's largest deficiencies. I still can't give a good indication of when it will happen, because I only have so many hours I can volunteer to the project. But as soon as I'm able to make progress, I will -- I've gotten as far as studying (with the help of Google Translate) Yuri Gordon's book on Cyrillic letterforms in my spare time :)

Any Cyrillic news?

@jpt hi there, thanks for beautiful font. ahah, don`t use Google Translate, I think, you can see various open source fonts, such as EB Garamond, Anka/Coder etc. and repeat Cyrillic in Barlow. And I can try to search books about Cyrillic on English, if you want.

Hi @den32ds -- thank you so much for the resources! I will begin work on Cyrillic soon, and am wondering if it might make sense to modify the Cyrillic glyphs of an existing OFL-licensed font such as Roboto to get started.

@jpt I understand you are planning to add the Cyrillic characters to Barlow? Do you have a date when this will be available?
