I take it upgrading to 1.5 is not an option? Try the commit that's coming in a few minutes. I don't have Django 1.4 so I hope it's gonna work. If not let me know.

Seems to work. Thanks for the quick fix!
And ya, unless there is a "good" reason then my teammate doesn't want to upgrade what isn't broken. The project has been behind a lot, so I'm trying to comply. Though my tendency is to try out the latest version of stuff. That has come back to bite me a few times though.

Well 1.5 is stable so that should be fine. But if you're behind you will certainly loose some time getting all those small differences sorted. And if there's no real need...
And now for a fix that doesn't just copy two functions into a conditional import :)
