Well spotted. Thanks a lot for reporting. I don't think that was intended.

@dgeb I propose treating it as a bug and fixing it in v1.1 by allowing a dot-separated list of member names additionally. Making including the recommendation that it should only be used to represent phases. We would end up allowing the following:

1. empty square brackets,
2. square-bracketed legal member names,
3. square-bracketed dot-separated list of legal member names.

We would extend the list of examples to include the following: filter [x.y]
