I did a quick test with the "Generate Changelog" workflow with #251 and after updating refs to point to my fork: main...jtpio:tmp, targeting jupyterlab/jupyterlab.

The logs of the run in https://github.com/jtpio/jupyter_releaser/runs/4963769487 seem to be showing the prep-git step went through:

From looking at the discussion, maybe it is enough for now to upgrade setuptools in the venv here.

This could also be useful for packages using something else than test as extras_require.

From looking at the discussion, maybe it is enough for now to upgrade setuptools in the venv here.

The error is triggered in prep-git step. It does not seems to be run in a the mentioned venv, is it?
