That's a very strange behavior if you tried it with the same SRT files on both computers. What could cause problems is when the file has a special encoding (I only tested with ANSI or UTF-8, did'nt test with Unicode) or the SRT file's syntax is wrong somewhere (for example someone edited the SRT manually and caused no empty separator line between subtitles, no counter before the timecode, the timecode is not in 01:07:32,053 -> 01:07:35,500 format precisely etc).

If you could provide a sample SRT file (or part of it), it'll be easier to guess what went wrong.
