Hey, you didn't understand me, I just suggest that it would be useful to set gutentags_cache_dir to for example ~/.cache/ctags by default, if keeping it under ~/.git subdirectory of each project repository is not possible automatically. ~/.cache/ctags is much better solution than spreading tags across whole computer.

Thanks for your suggestion. I have set the gutentags_cache_dir to ~/.cache/ctags. :)

The tag file is created by vim-gutentags plugin. If you think it is annoying, you could disable this plugin.
